Africa Tea Collection

As the first brand of Kazi Yetu, Africa Tea Collection sources, blends, flavours, and packages creative teas. Our flavours range from exotic spices in Zanzibar to dried citrus and herbs grown in small and large scale farms. A favourite in Tanzania is the chai with cinnamon and cardamom, which is on the pot in most households here everyday before and after working hours!

From Sourcing...

We source our orthodox black tea and oolong tea straight from a tea estate in northern Tanzania  in the Usambara Mountains. This large tea farm employs over 150 farmers that pluck two leaves and a bud, and maintain the farm through the different seasons. These farmers work on the tea plantation as a daily source of income, which is key for their families’ quality of life. Most of them are smallholder farmers that grow subsistence food crops on their own land for their families’ consumption. Besides, the tea estate also operates an out-grower scheme with neighbouring tea farms of smallholder farmers.

Our orthodox green tea is directly sourced from an organic tea estate in Rutsiro, Rwanda.

To Blending...

Our exotic tea blends are directly sourced from organic producers and processors across the country. Flavours range from spices – cinnamon, ginger, and star anise – to herbs – mint, rosemary, lemongrass, moringa – and flowers such as hibiscus.

We are creating new blends to promote Tanzanian flavours and quality, and always looking for collaborators to come develop product ranges.

And Packing!

Our tea comes in loose leaf and bio-degradeable pyramid tea bags, which allow for the leaves and flavours to breathe as they unfurl in your cup. We are the first tea company in Tanzania to offer pyramid tea bags, and this is just another example of how we are transforming the tea standards here to compete internationally.

We have packaged our tea in modern, reusable tins and paper tubes that sustain the aromas, flavours, and longevity of the teas as they travel from Tanzania to our target markets. The beauty of each of these product features is that, while they are new to Tanzania, by introducing these to the industry we are disrupting the status quo. This is the mantra of Kazi Yetu and will remain at our forefront.
